Ingredients
- All-purpose flour โ 330 g (2 and 3/4 cups)
- Salt โ 1 teaspoon
- Baking powder โ 1 tablespoon
- Whole milk โ 300 ml (1 and 1/4 cups)
- Unsalted butter โ 113 g (1/2 cup)
- Sugar โ 200 g (1 cup)
- Eggs โ 2 large
- Sour cream โ 1/4 cup
- Vanilla extract โ 1 tablespoon
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips โ 1 and 1/2 cups
- Bittersweet chocolate chips โ to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
Set your oven to 220ยฐC (425ยฐF) to ensure these muffins get that initial blast of heat for a beautifully domed top. - Mix the Dry Ingredients
Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder together into a bowl. Give them a good whisk and set aside. - Combine the Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and sugar. Add in the eggs and sour cream, followed by the vanilla extract. Whisk together until smooth. - Combine and Mix
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined; it’s okay if lumps remain. Carefully fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula. - Prepare the Muffin Tin
If using paper liners, place them in the muffin tin. If not, butter and flour the tin generously. Fill each cup to the top with batter. - Add Toppings and Bake
Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips over the top. Bake at 220ยฐC (425ยฐF) for 5 minutes, then lower the temperature to 175ยฐC (350ยฐF) and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden and a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
The aroma of these muffins alone is enough to make anyone’s day. Try serving them warm with a cup of coffee, or pack them up for a picnic or midday snack. Enjoy the chocolatey goodness!
